Buis-les-Baronnies Altitude : 370 metres - population : 2367. Capital of the « canton », (the district), which has a population of 4665 over 21 «communes». Nestled in green countryside, and sheltered from the strong winds of the Rhone Valley, Buis has a climate which is ideal for Mediterranean flora. Among the most striking features of the region are the Ubrieux Gorges and Saint Julien Rock. Both these sites are equipped for climbers.
