Rock-climbing
Buis has long been known as a rock-climbing site in France and enjoys an international renown too. It has followed the sports evolution and is adapted for modern climbing.
Buis was host in 1995 to the French Youth Championships and its interest lies in its diversity. You will appreciate the variety of distances, of levels of difficulty and of climbing styles.
Whatever sort of climbing you like doing, you will find something to suit you.
Rocks fitted for climbers :
Saint-Julien Rock : 100 climbs, from level 4a to 7c (under 120 metres) ; facing south, ideal in cooler weather.
Ubrieux Gorges : 150 climbs, from level 3 to 8b (under 70 metres) in several different zones on both sides of the river. Easy access (except on the right bank when the water-level is high). Climbing for all the family on the left bank.
La Baume Rousse : 3 zones, including the zone fitted out in 1995 for the French Youth Championships. Remarkable rock and surroundings. 25 climbs, from level 4+ to 8b.
Mévouillon : 2 zones with about 40 climbs, from level 5 to 8b.
Trois-Rivières : 100 climbs from level 5 to 8b (mostly from 6 to 7), facing north. Ideal in hotter weather.
Include La Roche-sur-le-Buis, la Clue de Plaisians, Bellecombe-Tarendol, Pelleret, Vic, Baume-Noire ... as well as many others which are less well-known but still very appealing.
